Atari Headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, 1976: Employee Workspace Interiors on Design You Trust

Atari was established in June 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. Pong, their debut product, revolutionized the gaming industry after five months. The company quickly released other arcade games, and when the Atari Video Computer System (VCS) was launched in 1977, millions of game cartridges were sold over 15 years.

The founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell, sold the business to Warner Communications in 1976. After the 1983 video game collapse, Warner rebranded the firm Atari Corporation. The home computer and video game console divisions were sold to Jack Tramiel, the former founder of Commodore. Warner continued to operate Atari’s coin-operated game business under the name Atari Games.
